GVPT 622: Quantitative Methods for Political Science

Lecture, Fridays 11:00am to 1:45pm, Fall 2021–2025

An introduction to quantitative analysis for graduate students in political science. Students develop a conceptual understanding of statistical inference and learn to apply it by loading and processing data, running and interpreting linear regression models, generating predictions, and producing visual plots in R.

Lecture, Tuesdays 11:00am to 1:45pm, Spring 2022–2026

A second-semester graduate methods course building on GVPT 622. Students learn to run and interpret generalized linear models (logistic, Poisson, negative binomial), conduct causal inference with observational and experimental data, and apply matching and fixed effects strategies. The course centers on a multi-stage replication and extension exercise using published research.
